A statement, made by the UK government, suggested that they may soon offer any owner of van that is nine years of age or older, £1000 to take it off the road. The logic behind this was much the same as the government’s car buy-back initiate. They wanted to remove cars that were very harmful to the environment and also stimulate the new car market back into action. Seeing as there just less than 3.3 million active vans that are nine years old or more in the UK, the argument for doing the same for vans is strong.
